Wally Tanksley brings more than thirty years experience in business and industry with the world's leading private sector, investor-owned, non-regulated and regulated companies, and a major U.S. Government agency to resolution of disputes involving commercial and business transactions which have led or may lead to costly civil litigation. He enters the dispute at any stage upon agreement by both parties and assists them and their attorneys in reaching an agreement acceptable to both sides. The goal is to avoid costly litigation, maintain good working relationships where applicable, and reduce risk.
Tanksley has completed more than 2000 cases since becoming a mediator in 1999. Cases have covered a broad spectrum of commercial/business disputes. To assist clients in reaching mutually beneficial agreements, Tanksley employs a combination of interest-based and directive techniques. He recently earned a Master of Science in Conflict Management degree, and completed the Harvard Law School program of Instruction for Lawyers Mediation Workshop and advanced mediation workshops at Pepperdine and Northwestern University Law Schools, as well as Cornell University to enhance his ability to assist clients in reaching equitable solutions. Wally has recently completed courses in Real Estate Law and Property Management at Georgia State University and Mediating the Complex Construction Dispute Workshop at Pepperdine Law School.
Tanksley's business experience has included positions ranging from laborer to senior level executive in enterprises involving electric and gas utilities, manufacturing, services, engineering, research & development, mining, government contracting, and apparel sewing & distribution. Manufactured products experience have included motors, major household appliances, transformers, lighting equipment, tires, power generation & transmission equipment, electronic equipment, and sportswear. Utility experience has included commercial and residential natural gas distribution and nuclear & fossil-fueled electricity generation and distribution. R & D experience involved nuclear marine propulsion systems and air pollution desulfurization, particulate, and other control systems. Mining operations were both coal and gold extraction operations as well as taconite extraction support businesses. Service businesses involved repair and maintenance for a wide variety of mechanical, electrical and electronics equipment as well as oil and gas field service work. Government contract work included prime contracts for major National Aeronautics & Space Administration and Atomic Energy Commission facilities
